ALMS racer from the Utah Grand Prix

A few weeks ago I attended the Utah Grand Prix (May 16-18) with Jason Teller, the editor of AudiWorld.com. I recently added my photos from the weekend to the photo gallery and I also wrote a short recap of the weekend for the Audi Club (they were able to get me a VIP pass for the weekend).

I didn't go to the race as a "professional" this time around, so the photos are not for the greatest spots on the track, but I'm happy with a number of them. I mainly only shot the ALMS race on Sunday, but I took a few others here and there.

View the Photo Gallery here, and you can read my recap of the weekend at the Audi Club website.  Jason Teller has also posted his extensive recap of the weekend on AudiWorld, although it doesn't contain any of my photography.

Photo Gallery Update: 2008 Kawasaki Versys
Friday, 25 April 2008

Image

I updated the Photo Gallery a few weeks ago with photos of my 2008 Kawasaki Versys. Nothing too earth shattering about these photos, I just wanted to go take a few photos of the bike with the new Givi cases I had put on. I've since added a top-rack as well and mounted an old, beat-up Pelican hard-case to it.

AudiWorld Long-Term Q7 Update
Sunday, 23 March 2008

Image Back in February I was able to drive AudiWorld's long-term Q7 for much of the month, under the condition that I write an update on the vehicle. The first day with the Q7 I drove it to Georgetown, CO and participated in the ice driving school held by the Audi Club's Rocky Mountain Chapter. This proved to be a great way to get familiar with the Q7 and it turned out to be a great day of driving.

We had gotten fairly attached to the Q7 and my wife really enjoyed driving it. It was sad to see it go back to the AudiWorld editor, but not having to pay for gas was a relief. Too bad the Q7 is too far out of our price range, even the lower end models.

Photo Gallery Update: 2008 Audi S5
Sunday, 02 March 2008

Image

It's been a really long time since I've added a new photo gallery to this site, but that long drought is over (well, for a bit at least). I haven't had a press car to review since late June/early July of last year and I haven't photographed a car since then. That ended a week ago when I got to drive this Audi S5 for a couple of days.

I had been driving AudiWorld's long-term Q7 for a few weeks (more on that later), but AW editor Jason Teller needed it back for a weekend and asked me if I'd be willing to swap cars. He was driving the S5 for a week so that's the car I got to swap with.  I only had it for 48hrs and wasn't able to do much with it, but it was fun non-the-less. Since I was a long time owner of Audi's previous large coupe, this was more my style.

I can't say much of the performance of the S5, I really wasn't able to "test" it to my liking while I had it. However, I can saw that the S5 is one of the most attractive Audi's to come along. The interior is the nicest Audi interior I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

The photos here were taken under a time constraint and with two of my kids complaining they needed to go to the bathroom. I'm surprised they even turned out. My favorite detail shot can be seen after the jump, the rest can be seen in the Photo Gallery.

R.I.P. Fonzie
Wednesday, 27 February 2008

Image I haven't updated this site in a month and now that I choose to, it's to report bad news.

Our little puppy Fonzie, which we've had for just over 6 weeks, was killed this evening. Unfortunately, it appears that our other dog, Dude, is the one that killed him. Dude loves to play with other dogs, but sometimes gets a little too aggressive, which is probably what happened this evening. I appears Dude bit Fonzie and it didn't take much...

Fonzie was like another child for my wife and she's pretty devastated right now. Two of our kids saw Fonzie shortly after it happened and from what I understand it wasn't a very clean site. Of course all the kids are very upset as well.

I'm very bummed too, I thought Fonzie was a great little dog, he was fun to have around.

Another new addition...

Image My wife gets the dog, I get this: a 2008 Kawasaki Versys. A fair trade off I think.

This replaces my Triumph Speedmaster which was totaled by the insurance company last month. I had actually had my eye on this bike before the accident and it was one of the first bikes I went to look at when I knew I would be buying something new.

I did consider a demo model 2007 Triumph Tiger at Erico Motorsports, but I couldn't make the numbers work. But honestly, I liked this bike a little better even though it has less power and one less cylinder.

So far I've only been able to ride it a total of 35 miles. The damn snow is keeping it garaged for now and probably most of the week. Hopefully I'll be able to start riding it to work shorly.
