In the late ‘90s to early ‘00s I was one of the principal members of the automotive enthusiast site AudiWorld.com . I had discovered the site in late 1996 when it was called JET’s A4 Pages. At the time, it was run by Jason Teller (JET) and was a collection of information on the then completely new and very different Audi A4. I was a young designer and had just starting designing for the web. Anxious to create websites outside of my ad agency job, I volunteered my time and effort to JET’s website.
Next thing I knew, JET’s A4 Pages really took off. Eventually we changed the name to A4.org, then AudiWorld.com and were recognized by Audi as a “real” media outlet. We started to receive cars to review from Audi and being invited to car shows and new car introductions. When I would review a car, I would take photos to accompany my written review. It didn’t take long for me to discover that I enjoyed taking photos of the cars more than I liked writing about them. This led to a long love affair with automotive photography.
Get Out And Drive’s history dates back to early 2001; I had left AudiWorld to pursue other interests and Get Out And Drive was going to be one of those interests. Unfortunately, it never got off the ground the way I envisioned and I turned it into my personal portfolio site. Eventually it became a showcase for my automotive photography, which I still pursued on the side with various organizations.
Of course things change and evolve over time and this site is no exception. By late 2006 and into 2007 I had shifted my professional ambitions back toward graphic design (it’s what pays the bills after all) rather than photography. As a result I wasn’t adding to this site at a frequency I would prefer. I also wanted an outlet for my other work and to create a general blog. Rather than creating another site, I decided to reorganize Get Out And Drive in November 2007 to fit my current needs and interests. This site will feature my photography, graphic design and “other junk” I feel fit to post.
Currently I work as a full-time freelance graphic designer based in the metro area of Denver, Colorado. If you would like to see more of my graphic design portfolio and resume, you can view it at my site www.eboda.org . I am married with three wonderful daughters. My daily transportation is usually my Triumph Speedmaster motorcycle, when it snows I take my winter beater Audi 4000 quattro (my 5th Audi) and the family vehicle is a Volkswagen Eurovan.
I hope you enjoy this site.
