No, I didn't get these for Christmas, they're just another item that I wanted to share on this website. I've been needing new business cards for some time now. I was shown these "mini cards" from a website called Moo.com a while ago and thought they would make cool business card. At $19.99 for 100 cards, you can't beat the price.
One of the cool things about these company that prints these is that they allow you to do different designs on the front of the card. I choose five different designs and have 20 of each printed, but I could have done 100 different designs if I wanted. I believe you can order cards directly from you Flikr account as well, so that makes it even easier to order multipul prints. One of the downsides is that they are a very unusual shape, 1" by 2.76", which makes it hard to frame a standard photo in the print area. For the back side, they only offer basic font and color options, so getting something really cool is out of the question. The printing is excellent and this price is great, so it's easy to forgive these minor things. The cards are printed in the U.K. and it took less than two weeks for them to arrive at my door. These are a great item to have and I would recommend them to anyone. Moo.com also does greeting cards, post cards and other items at very resonable prices. |

This is an illustration I've been working on in my spare time. It's not for anything specific, just playing around with different techniques in Adobe Illustrator. If you look closely at the iris of the eye, you can see the various radial patterns I used to create the texture. Most of these patterns came from the GoMedia Vector Packs that I have. The scales are were created from a stock shield vector and the eyebrow uses a number of different flame vectors. Again, I was playing around with various techniques and this has been created entirely in Illustrator (except for converting to a bit-map to display here).
The image to the left is a detail of the eye itself, you can see a full version by clicking "Read More" at the bottom. |

For the past month or two I've been concentrating on my graphic design work more than my photography. This is due to many reasons, mainly because graphic design is my "day job" and it's what pays all the bills. I've also taken a newfound interest in areas that I haven't explored much in the past. Plus, with it being summer, taking time off and a severe lack of interesting vehicles to drive, I just haven't done a lot of photography in the past month (although I do have some interesting photos of a Honda Fit that I still need to process and get online). One of the recent design projects I did was this Triumph Motorcycles graphic. I created this just for fun and thought it came out extremely well. I shared the design with one of the Triumph websites that I frequent and received a lot positive feedback, which encouraged me to actually have it printed on T-shirts. With an addition of a shopping cart system on this website, those T-shirts are now available to purchase directly from this site. While this isn't a photographic piece I hope that you enjoy it. If the shirt sells well, I plan on putting this design on other products like a sticker or maybe a different kind of shirt. |
