2006 VW GTI Mk5

A new photo gallery of the all-new Volkswagen GTI Mk5 has been added to the site. I didn't get to take as many photos of this cars as I would have liked, due to bad weather much of the week that I drove it.

I really enjoyed driving this car, even more than the GLI I had a few weeks before. The two cars are pretty much idential. The mechanicals are the same and so are the interiors. The main difference is the GLI has an extra set of doors and and good size trunk. But, this GTI is more fun to drive, handles better,  and I didn't experience the massive amount of torque steer like I did on the GLI.

Now this is more like it.

The new Volkswagen Jetta didn't make much of an impression on me when it debuted last year; the Toyota Corrolla styling and 2.5 in-line 5-cylinder engine left a lot to be desired. It’s a good all around car, but not very fun to drive from an enthusiast’s point of view.

Photo Gallery: ACNA Ice Driving Event
Wednesday, 15 February 2006 05:00

On February 12 I attended the Audi Club ice driving event in Georgetown, Colorado. This was a fairly casual event and for a change I actually drove in the event rather than just photographing it. The event was noteable for the appearance of an Audi RS4, a vehicle currently not sold in the United States - it officially goes on sale in a few months. The RS4 was one of the test vehicles currently being driven in the region.

I had a good time attending this event, although my photos could have turned out better. A slower shutter speed would have captured the action better. I've broken the photos into two galleries; one for the RS4 and the other for the other vehicles in attendance.

Photo Gallery: 2006 Audi A3 3.2 S-Line Detail Shots

The story on why I only have detail shots of this car is kind of sad. I had big plans for shooting this car, one of which was to possibly photograph it up on the frozen Georgetown Lake. But it wasn't to be...

I took these detail shots in my driveway on February 5th. Later that afternoon I was on my way to one of the locations I had picked out to shoot the exterior. I was stopped at a red light in the left turning lane of an intersection. The left arrow light turned green, I entered the intersection and someone from the opposite way ran their red light and tagged me in the left rear. The impact wasn't very hard and I wasn't hurt at all, but it was enough to rip the rear bumper right off the car. Needless to way that put a end to my photo plans.

Photo Gallery: 2006 Audi A6 Avant 3.2

These photos were taken way back in October 2005 - I think the week after shooting the limited edition Audi S4. I wasn't able to take to many shots of this Audi A6, and those that I did I was never too happy with - which is why it has taken me four months to post them to my gallery. However, I did include the above image in my 2006 Audi Calendar because I liked the "fall" look of it.

Star Wars collection
Tuesday, 07 February 2006 11:50

Below you will find photos of my collection of original Star Wars action figures. All of the are from the late '70s & '80s and were subject to an infinite amount of abuse by my self in those early years. But for the last 15 years or so they have sat undisturbed in my Darth Vader carrying case. At one point in time in the late '80s I was going to get rid of them, but my mom made me keep them. I guess I owe her for that one!

Click the thumbnails to view larger photos of the figure.
