Photo Gallery Moved to Flickr |

After trying various things to get a decent photo gallery working with my updated site, I decided just to move the entire Gallery to my Flickr account. I also decided to create larger versions of the photos, so now you can see 1200 pixel wide photos vs. the 800 pixel photos I had here. The downside to moving the files there is that all the old links to the photo gallery on this site no longer work, I'll eventually get around to fixing them, but to be honest it's not a big priority for me. My automotive photography on Flickr is broken into three categories: Automotive Photography, Automotive Events, and Automotive - Misc. Please visit each gallery to see all the various work I've done. Sadly, I don't think I'll be updating this website very often in the future. I'll keep the website running and will occationally add items when I have something to share, but I'm not doing much automotive photography any longer. However, I am starting to work in Video, so who knows, maybe I'll start adding my video work to this site, although it probably won't be automotive related. |

Rocky Mountain Concours D'Elegance |

Over Labor Day weekend I was able to do something fairly special, at least for me. I was hired by the official photographer of the Rocky Mountain Concours D'Elegance, John Waugh, to help him photograph the event. John is a pro photographer based out of Boulder who I've been in contact with over the years, I even recommended him for a job once that was a little out of my league. The event is in its 2nd year and was hosted by the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. The overall even consisted of events on Friday evening at the Penrose House, a road tour on Saturday partially up Pikes Peak then ending up at the Glen Eyrie Castle, a formal dinner Saturday evening featuring Bobby and Al Unser, then the car show and awards Sunday. We shot all three days of the event and between all of the photographers (four total) we shot over 7000 photos for the weekend. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. It's been a long time since I've shot that much and it felt good to do it again. Most of the photos I took were downloaded to John's computer for sorting and editing. He'll have a gallery of the event up on his site shortly and I'll point to it when it's up. Hopefully some of my images will be used for promoting next years event. |

Photo Gallery: Utah Grand Prix |

A few weeks ago I attended the Utah Grand Prix (May 16-18) with Jason Teller, the editor of AudiWorld.com. I recently added my photos from the weekend to the photo gallery and I also wrote a short recap of the weekend for the Audi Club (they were able to get me a VIP pass for the weekend). I didn't go to the race as a "professional" this time around, so the photos are not for the greatest spots on the track, but I'm happy with a number of them. I mainly only shot the ALMS race on Sunday, but I took a few others here and there. View the Photo Gallery here, and you can read my recap of the weekend at the Audi Club website. Jason Teller has also posted his extensive recap of the weekend on AudiWorld, although it doesn't contain any of my photography.

I updated the Photo Gallery a few weeks ago with photos of my 2008 Kawasaki Versys. Nothing too earth shattering about these photos, I just wanted to go take a few photos of the bike with the new Givi cases I had put on. I've since added a top-rack as well and mounted an old, beat-up Pelican hard-case to it.

AudiWorld Long-Term Q7 Update |

Back in February I was able to drive AudiWorld's long-term Q7 for much of the month, under the condition that I write an update on the vehicle. The first day with the Q7 I drove it to Georgetown, CO and participated in the ice driving school held by the Audi Club's Rocky Mountain Chapter. This proved to be a great way to get familiar with the Q7 and it turned out to be a great day of driving.
We had gotten fairly attached to the Q7 and my wife really enjoyed driving it. It was sad to see it go back to the AudiWorld editor, but not having to pay for gas was a relief. Too bad the Q7 is too far out of our price range, even the lower end models. To read the update and view more photos, follow this link: The Q7 Gets Schooled |

Photo Gallery Update: 2008 Audi S5 |

It's been a really long time since I've added a new photo gallery to this site, but that long drought is over (well, for a bit at least). I haven't had a press car to review since late June/early July of last year and I haven't photographed a car since then. That ended a week ago when I got to drive this Audi S5 for a couple of days. I had been driving AudiWorld's long-term Q7 for a few weeks (more on that later), but AW editor Jason Teller needed it back for a weekend and asked me if I'd be willing to swap cars. He was driving the S5 for a week so that's the car I got to swap with. I only had it for 48hrs and wasn't able to do much with it, but it was fun non-the-less. Since I was a long time owner of Audi's previous large coupe, this was more my style. I can't say much of the performance of the S5, I really wasn't able to "test" it to my liking while I had it. However, I can saw that the S5 is one of the most attractive Audi's to come along. The interior is the nicest Audi interior I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. The photos here were taken under a time constraint and with two of my kids complaining they needed to go to the bathroom. I'm surprised they even turned out. My favorite detail shot can be seen after the jump, the rest can be seen in the Photo Gallery. |
